BIGBAND NETWORKS RAISES $27 MILLION

BigBand Networks, a provider of broadband infrastructure systems for advanced television broadcasting and interactive services, has raised $27 million in its third financing round. Participants in the current round include Charles River Ventures, Lauder Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Pilot House Ventures, Cedar Fund, and Evergreen Investments. The company has raised $57 million to date.

CELLARIS CLOSES ON $2.25 MILLION

Cellaris has completed a $2.25 million round at a $7 million company valuation. The company is now raising a $250,000 to $750,000 million follow-on round of financing. Cellaris develops ultralight ceramic foams with enhanced insulating properties and lower densities than current cellular ceramic foams. The company, which was founded in 1999, previously raised $1 million from the ITP Fund, Meir Lazer, Doron Navo (former CEO of Barak and Clalcom), and other private investors.

SHORT OF $40 MILLION TARGET, QUICKSILVER CLOSES SERIES C WITH $25 MILLION

QuickSilver Technology, a developer of integrated circuit systems for cellular devices, has closed its Series C round with $25 million, $15 million short of its original target. The company announced an initial $20 million in Series C financing in February from investors including JPMorgan Partners, National Semiconductor, Selby Venture Partners, TechFund Capital, Portview, and Charter Venture Capital. At the time, QuickSilver said it expected to close another $20 million by the end of the first quarter. This week, QuickSilver announced it has closed the round with $25 million. QuickSilver, which was established in 1998, has raised $46.5 million to date. Kyocera and BellSouth Cellular are also investors.

NETWORK SECURITY COMPANY SKYBOX RECEIVES $5 MILLION

Skybox Security, a developer of systems that assess vulnerabilities and threats affecting corporate networks, has secured $5 million in seed funding in a round led by Benchmark Capital, Carmel Ventures, and the Mofet Fund. Company founder include Gidi Cohen (co-founder of Vigil Technologies), Moshe Meiseles (former SVP Development at Memco), and Eran Reshef (co-founder of Sanctum).

OXON MEDICA TAKES $3.9 MILLION SERIES A

Pharmaceutical company OxoN Medica has raised $3.9 million at a post-round valuation of $12 million. The company develops small chemical molecules that target diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, angina and asthma. OxoN's founders include Leslie Benet, founder and chairman of drug delivery research company AvMax; Erik Anggard, co-founder of drug development firm Vanguard Medica; and Hebrew University scientist Abdullah Haj-Yehia.

TERACHIP RAISES $11 MILLION FROM ACCEL PARTNERS AND BENCHMARK CAPITAL

Switch fabric developer TeraChip has closed an $11 million round of financing from Accel Partners and Benchmark Capital. Founded in 2001by Micha Zeiger, the company previously received $4 million in seed financing from Benchmark Capital.

BIZPOINT CLOSES NEW ROUND
Bizpoint has raised $1 million in a second round of financing. Founded in 2001, the company develops a B2B platform for the communications, financial and insurance sectors. Previous investors include Seed2Net and Alrov.

SOFTWARE FIRM CARDONET RAISES $10 MILLION SERIES D

Cardonet, a provider of catalog content aggregation software for business-to-business online marketplaces, has closed $10 million in Series D round financing from Cargill, Intel Capital, Giza GE Capital, Mentor Group, Sequoia Capital, and Yozma Venture Capital. The pre-money valuation was down by about 15% from the company's post-money valuation in the last round. Cardonet, which was founded in 1997 by Itay Meiri and Offer Markovich, has raised $24.5 million to date.

TTR DOES $1.6 MILLION

TTR (Nasdaq: TTRE), a developer of digital anti-piracy technologies, has raised $1.6 million in private financing from JDS Capital Management. The company currently trades at a $19 million market capitalization.
