The semiconductor industry was the engine of the high tech revolution and the EDA industry was a major factor and enabler of this revolution. However, in the last few years there has been a stagnation in EDA, partly due to fierce competition and commoditization. This in turn affected rate of new EDA company creations and their exit success. Dr. Chi-Foon, the president of Synopsys, the most successful EDA company will discuss the issues and challenges facing the industry and its effect on potential investments in EDA start ups.
