Meyya Meyyappan, PhD, Director, Center for Nanotechnology, NASA-Ames

Meyya Meyyappan is Director of the Center for Nanotechnology as well as Senior Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, CA. He is a member of the Interagency Working Group on Nanotechnolgy (IWGN) established by the Office of Science and Technolgy Policy(OSTP). The IWGN is responsible for putting together the National Nanotechnolgy Initiative. He is a member of IEEE, AIChE, AVS, ECS, and MRS. He is the IEEE Distinquished Lecturer on Nanotechnology and ASME's Distinquished Lecturer on Nanotechnology.

Dr. Soane is Chairman of Alnis BioSciences, ZMS, LLC and Founder and Chief Science Officer of Nano-Tex, LLC. Prior he was the Co-founder of ACLARA BioSciences , Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLA) (formerly Soane BioSciences). Previously he founded ZMS, LLC. Before that he founded Alnis BioSciences, Inc. Most recently he serves as president & CEO of Cosmetica, Inc., (Nanotechnology applications in personal care products) Soane was Professor of Chemical Engineering at U.C. Berkeley from 1979 to 1994, has authored more than 200 scientific papers and two books, and approximately 100 patents/patent applications. He received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from National Taiwan University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley.

Jeffrey L. Cleland, Ph. D, VP Research & Development, Targesome

During his 11 years at Genentech prior to joining Targesome, Dr. Cleland led the development of Nutropin Depot from concept to approval and co-led the manufacturing subteam for Herceptin through approval in both the US and Europe. He obtained his Ph. D. in chemical engineering from M.I.T. and is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Colorado, the University of Kansas, and the University of Pacific. He is an author on over 90 manuscripts and serves on the editorial board of 5 journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. His contributions to pharmaceutical sciences have been internationally recognized by his election as a Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the International Controlled Release Society Young Investigator Award for Excellence in Research.

Alan Marty is responsible for driving the JPMorgan investments in the nanotechnology arena. Mr. Marty brings both a business and technology perspective on nanotechnology. While at Hewlett-Packard, Mr. Marty was General Manager of the Integrated Circuit Business with responsibility for all aspects of the multi-national enterprise. At Agilent Technologies, Mr. Marty was General Manager of the Microdisplay Business, an early entrant into commercialized nanotechnology. Early in his career, Mr. Marty was an Associate Professor in Materials Science as Silliman University and served as a White House Fellow during the Bush administration in 1989. Mr. Marty received his bachelor's degree in Materials Science from Iowa State University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Ed is a long-time advisor to Foresight Institute, pursuing a 15 year interest in nanotechnology. Prior to NRW, Ed served in a several marketing and sales capacities in the computer and softwareindustries. Ed has a BSME degree from Duke University and is a licensed Professional Engineer.

Zeljka Matutinovic co-heads JVP’s activities in North America. She is a board member of several JVP companies, including Mahi, Quarry, Kovio and Renka. Previously, Ms. Matutinovic was Managing Director at International Real Returns. Ms. Matutinovic also worked in the Investment Banking/Technology Group at Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to this, Ms. Matutinovic was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, a Research and Teaching Assistant at Princeton University and also held the position of Junior Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Zagreb.
